Discover Photoshop’s Best New Features for 2021

Whether you’re a Photoshop pro or new to the software, you will be delighted with the new features that Adobe has added to the graphics editor for 2021. Since it was created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll, Photoshop has not only become the industry standard for graphics editing, but digital art as a whole. So, what’s new with Photoshop?

1 – Sky Replacement

This cool new feature allows you to customise the sky in your images. Whether you want a crisp, clear blue sky to make an image pop or you want to create a spectacular ‘red sky at night, shepherd’s delight’ vibe, Photoshop’s Sky Replacement feature allows you to do this and more.

Simply open up Photoshop, hit the edit tab, scroll down to Sky Replacement and choose from a bunch of pre-set sky images and get creative.

2 – Neural Filters

Photoshop has added a couple of new Neural Filters for 2021, the most impressive of which is the Smart Portrait Neural Filter. This nifty new feature allows you to change facial expressions on a portrait photograph, among other things. It’s some pretty mad stuff.

You can change the direction that a person’s eyes are looking, head direction and light direction. You can even change hair thickness.

Meanwhile, the Colorise Neural Filter allows you to transform any black and white photo into a colour photo, instantly.
To access the new Neural Filter features, open up Photoshop and click the Filters tab in the top menu bar and scroll down to Neural Filters. They’re so fun.

3 – Intelligent Refine Hair

Found under the Select tab in the top menu bar, the intelligent refine hair feature ‘automagically’ refines the selection of hair. Gone are the days of you having to mask hair manually using the Refine Edge brush. However, the smart refine hair feature will still make it appear as if you’ve done the strokes yourself.

4 – Pattern Preview

The new Pattern Preview feature gives you a real-time, infinite preview of the pattern that you’re creating. This allows you to create seamless pattern sequences every time. This handy new feature can be found under the View tab in the top menu bar and is really easy to use.

5 – Live Shapes

The Live Shapes feature is a great enhancement for working with shapes in Photoshop. With a whole bunch of properties you can do some cool things to modify the look of shapes that you’re creating. You can even adjust your shapes after rotating them.

Meanwhile, the reset Smart Objects feature allows you to turn your shapes back to their original form no matter how much you’ve modified them.

All these new features have been added to the latest version of Photoshop CC released by Adobe – version 22.0.0. The exciting new AI additions are fantastic for artists, designers and photographers.
